SUNDAY May 11, 2003 / Nash Has No Problem Drumming Up Prestigious Gigs But Wants a Contract By Martin Renzhofer / The Salt Lake Tribune Lewis Nash has a sneaking suspicion that prejudice is part of the reason he is without a recording contract. Nash, you see, is a drummer. Nash is not wanting for work, though. He just finished recording with Elvis Costello and is booked solid through August, including a 10-day recording date with Linda Ronstadt starting Wednesday. (Submitted by John Foyle)

Here's an interesting item on Bill Frisell's website. Live Performances: Ruhr Triennale - A festival by the curious for the curious. Bill Frisell has accepted an invitation by Gerard Mortier, artistic director of the Ruhr Triennale Arts festival in Germany, to be musical director of the "Century of Song" series for the festival throughout 2003 and 2004. Mortier is the former director of the Salzburg Festival and the future director of the Paris Opera. Lee Townsend is producing the series in association with Thomas Woerdehoff, Chief Dramaturg of the Festival. Frisell and Townsend have invited guest songwriters, interpreters and performers to collaborate with Bill not only to investigate their own bodies of work, but to bring a fresh perspective to songs and songwriters that have been influential upon their own music, as well. Band members will be specially selected for each program. The concerts will take place in converted industrial spaces throughout the Ruhr region of Northern Germany. In 2004, Bill will be joined by Elvis Costello and others. (Submitted by Martin Foyle)
