EC in UNCUT
The current issue of UNCUT (Lennon cover) features "Mighty Like A Rose"
as its "Great album that [has] fallen off the critical radar." Writer
Nick Hasted summarizes the confused, mixed reviews the album received in
1991 and admits that it took years of hindsight appreciate the album's
brilliance. While praising MLAR as a landmark Hasted says it "does
contain the seeds of Costello's later, partial decline, its ambition
leading to the dilettante [90s]...Von Otter collaborations, and the
erosion of his talent to the point where he appears to struggle to write
a tune or pointed lyric on this year's 'When I Was Cruel.'" Full article
