Now that the tour is done, Mr. Costello apparently isn't going on one of those strange vacations that Cait plans - he's signed on to appear in the upcoming film "I Love Your Work". The film will star Giovanni Ribisi, Joshua Jackson and Christina Ricci and will be directed by actor/director Adam Goldberg. It begins shooting in January, and will hopefully be in theaters later 2003 / early 2004.
Some additional info from the production company: Cyan Pictures:
I Love Your Work follows fictional movie star Gray Evans through the disintegration of his marriage, his gradual mental breakdown, and his increasing obsession with a young film student who reminds Gray of his own life before becoming famous. A dark psychological drama, I Love Your Work explores the pressures of fame and the difference between getting what you want and wanting what you get.
Elvis plays himself in the film, and appears throughout, first leaving answering machine messages for Gray's wife, fictional actress Mia Serrano, then talking with her at the bar of a film premiere party. Elvis eventually invites Mia to dinner, to discuss a project he's interested in collaborating on; Gray, increasingly paranoid, believes the dinner is romantic, and that Elvis and Mia are having an affair. Gray confronts Mia, and essentially slides downhill mentally from there until the climax of the film.
The film will be shot in New York and LA, starting January 6th. We'll be shooting Elvis' scenes during the first week, in LA, to accommodate his busy tour schedule. While some of his music will be used in the film, it's still too early to say exactly what, or even whether it will be original or extant. Along with the current leads (Ribisi, Jackson and Ricci), we have some great supporting actors, like Adam Goldberg, Jared Harris and Nicky Katt.
